Matthew Samson's work with stardust all started one night while walking his dog. "I had already begun incorporating works with raw materials such as marble dust, sand, and flowers when one night I happened to see a shooting star. At that moment, I realized 'I want to use that,' and so it began my ongoing love affair with this element, the building blocks of life."

Samson's art incorporates the oldest materials in the universe, with particles older than the sun itself. Stardust is that which we're made from; it's the iron in our blood, the calcium in our bones, and the carbon in our DNA. This cosmic cycle of creation and destruction connects us all. Whether working with objects or human figures Samson's art is a celebration and exploration of the origin of human life and the particles that tie us together.
